BOULDER REEF'S DUELING PIANO PLAYERS:
MIKE CAPPO
Cappo, is a dueling-piano veteran, having worked at two other clubs in Michigan before moving to Boulder to work at the Reef. He started out as a drummer with a degree in percussion, but made the switch to piano and dueling-piano clubs about five years ago. At the Reef, he's known as the consummate musician who can play nearly any request that gets thrown at him.
BRIAN JUAN
Juan, moved to Boulder in 1996 with a rock band he was playing with at the time. A few years later he helped form Latin jam band Chupacabra, which sold out venues like the Fox Theatre and had success touring around the country. He also played in Sonar, a fun-loving local band that dressed up in robot costumes when it performed.
Juan settled down some in 2003 when his daughter, Jade, was born, and started playing at the Reef a couple of years after that. He accompanies an amateur voice class once a week; he's also played on local bluesman Otis Taylor's last two albums.
