FUNKIPHINO

Cathy Griffin has been Funkiphino’s lead singer for the past four years. Along with her slammin’ soprano and impeccable intonation, she has also co-written many of the band's new songs that will be featured on the new CD to be released this summer.

Jennifer Butler is the band's newest lead/backup vocalist. She had been performing with the 17th Avenue All-Stars for the past four years before joining Funkiphino.

Chris Fischer is the co-founder and musical director of Funkiphino. Chris plays Hammond Organ and keyboards, sings backup, and is the primary songwriter/arranger for the band. He received a degree in music from the University of Colorado in 1996.

Kevin Lehman, the band's drummer, has been playing with Chris since they went to college together. Kevin received a degree in music from the University of Colorado in 1993 and later studied with Ralph Humphries at the Los Angeles Music Academy.

Chris Sutliff plays bass and lays down the foundation and groove for the band. He previously played with local bands Cup-a-Jo and the Melanie Susuras Band before joining Funkiphino in 2004.

Rich Benge's solid rhythm and smokin’ guitar playing have been more than just a great addition to the Funkiphino rhythm section. Before joining Funkiphino, Rich performed with his own band, Big Electric Cat.

Jessica Fischer is the co-founder and senior horn player in the band. Jessica directed the University of Colorado Marching Band for four years. Her energy on stage never goes unnoticed. She is also the band's graphic designer, creating almost every visual, including posters, e-mails, and CDs.

Andy provides the “screaming” lead trumpet in the horn section. Before moving back to Denver and joining the band, Andy was featured in the New York and Asian productions of the Broadway musical hit Blast.

Greg Warren's tenor saxophone puts the funk in the section. This tasty player knows when to swing and when to pull out all the stops and rock! His four years of performing and touring with the band Jive were the funkified prerequisites needed to step into Funkiphino.

Pete Jeffryes is the youngest member of the band. This twenty-two-year-old monster tenor saxophone player recently graduated from the University of Northern Colorado. After a brief stint helping to open a microbrewery on the Western Slope, Pete was recruited to move back to this side of the continental divide and join the band.

Jeremy Sandoval is the final piece of the Funkiphino puzzle. Both Jeremy and Kevin have an obsession with Latin rhythm that shines through when they play together. Jeremy fills out the rhythm section and makes the band complete.

Richard Bates has been performing all of the live sound duties for Funkiphino since the beginning. When not mixing the band, this real-life rocket scientist works for Lockheed Martin Corporation.
