JASON STOCKER
Jason Stocker is first and foremost a lover of God. His life echoes that fact not only through his passion for leading people in praise and worship, but also in his everyday interactions with people. His is a life that exudes the kind of care and warmth that only comes from a loving relationship with God, and the truth of that is reflected in his music and lyrics.
Jason was born on June 23, 1977 to Dan and Kathie Stocker, in Portland, Oregon where he was raised in the Church. He later attended North Park University, a small Christian Liberal Arts School in Chicago, IL, where he obtained his degree in Youth Ministry in 1999. His years at school in Chicago were not only formative for him as a follower of Christ, but as a musician, leader, and songwriter. He would perform many of his early songs at the college coffee shop, while some of his early corporate worship songs became favorites on the North Park campus. Jason's marriage to wife Krista, in July of 2003, has been one of the greatest gifts in his life. Krista's love and support for Jason and his work has helped make his recent debut album a reality. His project would not have been possible either without the support of his church Grace Church in Arvada, CO, where he serves as the pastor of worship.
Jason's music and lyrics tap into a very real place in the lives of most Christians. His album, 'The Perfect Day', strikes at the powerful reality that living the Christian life is not easy, even worshiping Jesus can be difficult at times. His lyrics and melodies are inspired not just by the greatness and glory of God, but by the realities of pain, loneliness, loss, and regret. Perhaps not least of which in his life was the sudden loss of his Father, Dan, in May of 1999. Still though, he can sing that both good days and bad days are indeed perfect days, because of God. Jason's songs have helped him encounter God and grow ever closer to him. His hope is that this may be true for many more people in the future.
