RHYTHM ANGELS

The Rhythm Angels are Celeste Krenz & Rebecca Folsom, a duet with seamless harmonies and smart lyrics. With writing that embodies simplicity, grit and grace Celeste Krenz and Rebecca Folsom's earthy, exquisite voices have created a unique harmonic alchemy that cuts right to the heart. Since the release of Girls Like Us, the Rhythm Angels have traveled the country enchanting their audiences. (HYPERLINK "http://www.highhorserecords.com/"www.highhorserecords.com)

Girls Like Us, the Rhythm Angels first CD, reached out to the world.“A night of songs in the round at the Bluebird Cafe, Nashville's famed songwriter space, brought Celeste Krenz and Rebecca Folsom together. They both come from farther west, Krenz from North Dakota and Folsom from Colorado. Their debut album shows why it was a collaboration worth pursuing, with songs that are at once literate and emotional, and harmonies that strike just the right note of connection and invention while staying spare and serving the music. The title track "Girls Like Us" seems suited to the dreams and reflections of those who are looking both forward and back in their lives. Top songwriter Gretchen Peters recorded the duo's dark "If I Had A Gun" on her most recent album, which will give you an idea of the sorts of stories Krenz and Folsom tell. They’ve each had success in solo careers, but this paring seems to suggest what the Indigo Girls might have sounded like had they taken a folk path. It also seems to suggest the Krenz and Folsom just might be headed for similar success...” - Kerry Dexter, said Dirty Linen.

The CD became #4 on Roots Music Report's Folk Top 50, and charted on New Music Weekly's College Top 30, The Folk D-J-L Chart, and the Americana Music Chart. They were “New and Notable” at KDNK in Colorado and "Album of the Week" at WXLV, Pennsylvania. Syndicated shows including FolkAlley.com, West Coast Live!, Woodsongs Radio Hour, and FolkScene, as well as many other radio shows spread the sounds of the Rhythm Angels across the country.

Events and performances took them as far west as California, north as Chicago (or is Montana even further?) and east to North Carolina and New York. They performed over 120 gigs and radio shows across the nation this past year.

In the beginning, as happens with traveling troubadours, careers found Celeste Krenz and Rebecca Folsom circling around each other for years. Celeste hails from the ranch country of North Dakota, while Rebecca comes out of the mountains of Colorado. It wasn't until they sang in-the-round in Nashville, that they came together for the first time. Inspired by the magic of their contrasting voices and harmony blend, they started performing together on a regular basis. After sold out shows across the country, it was clear audiences felt the magic, too.

Their individual accomplishments are extensive and impressive. Celeste's Slow Burning Flame reached #11 on the Gavin Americana Chart, made her a Top 100 Colorado selling artist on Amazon.com, and finished second in the 2008 CMT/NSAI song contest. Rebecca has earned Best of BBC Radio and Television honors and was in the top 5 finalists at the Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist Showcase.
